Early Detour
I can't believe that after doing my homework and getting prepared to eat better I have had to detour already due to a cold. Yes, I can maintain the 'clean and green' eating but my taste buds are way off. Energy I am supposed to get from all of this isn't noticed because of fatigue from the cold. I do feel good about being able to catch up on The Story. This weeks lesson is focused on Moses and how he came to lead the Israelite's out of Egypt. His obedience to God while still being so patient. If I could only be that patient or that I would understand His Word. Then I read this morning in Psalm 119," Blessed are those whose ways are blameless, who walk according to the law of the Lord" (v. 1). I want His blessing, but I need Him to "give me understanding, so that I may keep your law and obey it with all my heart" (v. 34). That is my prayer for today. As I sit here watching the snow continue to fall I continue to be amazed at His creation in every single snowflake. All four inches of them. :-)

Getting Started
Well, I 've done it. Like so many times before, I have made a "resolution" to work toward being a healthier me. I have been going to the gym over the last 19 months. Although not as faithfully as I should I have seen some results which encourages me somewhat. I don't want to be 'muscle woman', but I do know that toned muscles help to prevent osteoporosis so I keep going. This is really a love-hate relationship . . . I hate going as I have already put in a full day at work and by the time I get home I don't feel like fixing dinner. But, I do feel a great sense of accomplishment at the end of a workout. So, I just need to be more purposeful in planning out meals and doing some prep work ahead of time. Otherwise, I grab junky snack foods while I figure out what to fix for dinner and by the time I decide I am full from snacking. I could go on and on about what I do wrong, but my goal is focus on what I can do now and into the future and being healthier is not just physically but also spiritually and mentally.
Therefore, I am determined to do the following:
Therefore, I am determined to do the following:
- Continue with my morning quiet time with the Lord
- Continue reading The Story to understand the Upper and Lower Story and how the circumstances of my life fit into The Story
- Minimally, complete the 30-day Green Smoothie Challenge
- Workout at BA Athletics three days a week
- Non-workout days focus on stretching and strengthening problem areas
- Eliminate, or at least drastically reduce, processed foods
- Something fun for me once a week-sewing, coffee with a friend
