Getting Started

Well, I 've done it.  Like so many times before, I have made a "resolution" to work toward being a healthier me.  I have been going to the gym over the last 19 months.  Although not as faithfully as I should I have seen some results which encourages me somewhat.  I don't  want to be 'muscle woman', but I do know that toned muscles help to prevent osteoporosis so I keep going.  This is really a love-hate relationship . . . I hate going as I have already put in a full day at work and by the time I get home I don't feel like fixing dinner.  But, I do feel a great sense of accomplishment at the end of a workout.  So, I just need to be more purposeful in planning out meals and doing some prep work ahead of time.  Otherwise, I grab junky snack foods while I figure out what to fix for dinner and by the time I decide I am full from snacking.  I could go on and on about what I do wrong, but my goal is focus on what I can do now and into the future and being healthier is not just physically but also spiritually and mentally.

Therefore, I am determined to do the following:
  • Continue with my morning quiet time with the Lord
  • Continue reading The Story to understand the Upper and Lower Story and how the circumstances of my life fit into The Story
  • Minimally, complete the 30-day Green Smoothie Challenge
  • Workout at BA Athletics three days a week
  • Non-workout days focus on stretching and strengthening problem areas
  • Eliminate, or at least drastically reduce, processed foods
  • Something fun for me once a week-sewing, coffee with a friend
I will keep you posted as to how I am doing from time to time.  A Happy and Healthy New Year to you.
